You are right the newest generation of WD are pure 12V powered. I didn't notice that. The Seagate, Hitachi, Toshiba and older WD are still conventional +12V plus +5V.

This is kind of off-topic...

Not exactly, the controller and magnetic arm use +5V while the spin consumes +12V power. +12V is more loaded for write&read and it's the opposite for the standby/sleep.

It's relatively heavy, like processor C6 sleep with multiple HDD.

Also the configuration of crossload is defined by Intel ATX specification rather than one might think it's realistic or not.

It's both right and wrong. The group regulation still would not be as good as independent regulation under crossload. But the +12V voltage is much less stressed when loading both +5V and +3.3V...

My concern is that OCZ StealthXStream has been discontinued for a while. An old PSU might not work as designed.

It will be high load (~400w) only when you run Furmark+ at heavy OC. You guess you don't do that all the time.

In games, the video card protects itself from being very hot.

Decent pricing. SuperFlower doesn't often build Bronze/Silver units on this platform.

Flat SATA cable may help a bit. But even flat PCI-E/CPU cables are still bulky.
