Given that PCI-E 8-pin has the same amount of +12 V wires as PCI-E 6-pin, such adapters are safe, certainly more so than Molex > 8-pin.

So shipping damage I suppose?

My sample of Power Zone 650W had some strange metallic sound present at operation from the beginning. Shipping damage too?

How so? If anything, it looks like one of the very best around with ~500 rpm until 80% load, on a high quality FDB fan too.

The best one of above is obviously Seasonic G-360.

If you want cheaper, CM G450M features modular cabling, DC-DC secondary and 5 year warranty.

If you want entry level, L8 will do fine, it's...

Seasonic or Rosewill. EA-550 Platinum is actually pretty mediocre design and outside of efficiency doesn't have much going for it.

If you could get Antec EDGE, that would be a different story, as...

I don't know about full load, when there are 80 mm fans. All I've heard howled like a banshee, including high end Antec ones.

Not sure about primary, but secondary doesn't look indy regulated to me. That small coil in the middle looks more like it belongs to a pi filter.

That SF OTOH clearly has 3 output chokes.

Worse fan though...

It's not a clean sweep for extra $25.

Advantages of AXi, while do exist, are rather minor and probably not noticeable in real world operation.

I wouldn't pay up for AXi.

RM is mostly considered "bad" by some here due to secondary capacitor choice, which is certainly not top-end. It is obviously unproven though that those PSUs will fail in short time span like some...

Even with WC level overclocks you'd have headroom on 850W with TWO GPUs. One would be more than fine with a 500W. You'll see anyway, if you go for "i" version.

860i has worse quality fan and may be audible, when it spins. I'd choose neither and go HXi instead.

Anyway 850W is for SLI with hellish overclock I presume?

Actually, 4770 had fairly high idle power draw too. Problem was AMD didn't know how to downclock GDDR5 properly at the time. The cards that had reasonable power draw were GDDR3 ones (like 4850)
