Ball bearings tend to get noisy.
I have also wondered about this issue; how to choose a comparable fan (other than the exact same model).
I guess one wants to match the RPM and CFM, but I was wondering if it is enough to just to...
I find they get rather hot, thought not as hot as an incandescent bulb.
It is hard to keep things straight with so much data.
I always wondered how much noise is generated by putting a baffle so close to the fan blades.
The specs have me confused

That is why it is relative
Lets just say the bias is one star down for the sake of argument, then a 2 star supply is still worse than a 3 star supply even if they are really 3 and 4 star...
Not that it really makes a difference, but looks like a heatsink on the bridge to me; or is that something else?
Which leads to another question... what if I freeze an electrolytic capacitor; I'm not interested in its functioning, but its survival. For example, we add anti-freeze to radiator water because water...
I imagined the electrolyte would slow in response, and didn't know that about the MOSFETS; but since most electrolytic capacitors are good to -40°, I imagine things might still be good till then.

But the reviews would still be useful in a relative sense.
Not at all, this is all very educational.
I'm still trying to come to terms with the dislike for Comic Sans; for me it is an architect's script.
Perhaps mine was just a bad experience with small GPU fans, but it drove me to fan-less video cards.
That is why I like soft failure.
If my brakes start making funny noises at 50,000 mi rather than simply failing at 100,000 mi, I'd prefer the first. So if a hard drive starts reallocating sectors...
I'm originally from England where health care and education is free.
Do you consider that a socialist country?
It used to be the case that if a SSD failed it was hard to recover the data; is this still the case?
I assume that graphic card fans tend to fail before the other fans (CPU, case or power supply)

Perhaps an unfair question but what normally wears out first in a non-overclocked PC

I seem to recall some might be licenses from retired computers and European law
saying they can be resold.

Below 0°C there is no humidity (it has all snowed out).
The problem is when one brings a cold object into the warm, but here I am thinking of operating in the cold.
How cold can a PC power supply run? I imagine the fan may not turn due to thickening lubricant, but this might not really be an issue when cold. Capacitors might be next on this list, but some seem...
So far I have gone with used, things others have thrown out.
Not so keen on proprietary stuff, although two of my machines have 12V only supplies.

I had forgotten about the price of Windows.
Does one really save money? given that they can get bulk pricing.
