Maybe the CX550 is just defective? Nice thing about Corsair in India.. they have their own, in-country support/RMA center.

Of course the bulk cap discharges, but even the CX's bulk cap can (should) stay energized for 10ms even with a 100% load. We're talking about a UPS company that makes UPS's that switch in 4ms.

When first turned on. You're not turning the PC on while it's on battery. You're maintaining it's on state. So inrush does not play a part.

Square wave is the super cheap UPSs (probably like the one you have). The APC is a simulated sine wave UPS. Should be fine.

But that's just what I heard.

Of course it does. The more the load is on the PSU, the shorter the hold up time. Where do you think the power in those bulk caps go? Think they just stay charged up and sit there? :D
