What's your intended usage? If it's gaming, then that's usually the CPU of choice these days.

Hehe. Yeah. I meant S12II. Although, I don't think that the 12 is a reference to the fan size. I'm pretty sure that there were S12II models (or at least PSUs based on that platform) which had 80mm...

Yup. The Pro is S21II Bronze based, and is therefore group regulated. The TS is S12G based, and is therefore DC-DC and thus independently regulated.

Maybe. Most of the PSUs I've had problems with have been on a similar level of quality to something like the Corsair CX or CS. Not exactly Delta Server level, but not even close to Pow(to the)Max...

Nah. Teapo are still behind the Jap brands IMO, and they always will be. I just pulled several of them bulged from an FSP. They get used by Chicony and the likes solely because they are cheaper and...

Pretty much. The regulation may not be as good as some modern DC-DC units, but I'm pretty sure that the SL350 (and, of course, SL300 and SL450) does have indy regulation, and I know that they can...

In hindsight, the score should have actually been 0 due to the junk caps and resulting near 100% failure rate after 3 years.

Nope. Not 5V heavy anyway. Even the next SmartPower series was more 12V-oriented. You could also find Antec Truepower PSUs, which were a bit more up-market at the time, but still had the plague....

Not for me. 20 Years is more like my ideal lifespan for a PSU. I want to be able to re-use my DPS-600MB in my next 4 or 5 builds (unless ATX specs change or we go to 12V-only).

There are no decent 5V-heavy PSUs on the market anymore, and definitely none with any 80+certification. Your best bet would be to find something like an old Antec SL350 and re-cap it with Japanese...

Yup. If it has OST caps and a sleeve bearing fan, then replace it. If it does actually have Japanese caps with a 2BB fan, then it should be fine for another 10 years.

EDIT:...

These days, reliable and HDD do not belong in the same sentence. I see lots of failures from all brands.

About the only series I haven't yet seen a failure from is a WD Caviar Black, but they...

I didn't have a hot air gun at that point. The soldering iron was all I had, so that's all I used. It worked perfectly, and the PSU is still in service to this day. If I was doing it today though,...

Nope. I've redone ATX cables with just a plain old temperature controlled 60W station a few times before. It takes a while to get things hot enough, but I got there. I did it on my Delta GPS-300AP...

It may have other problems, then. I only suggested the caps because it's common on an 8 year old PSU (unless it came with Japanese parts).

Complete and utter rubbish, especially if the PSU has 100% Japanese caps. The caps aging will make the ripple worse (and possibly cause it to go out of spec after a few years), but it will NOT affect...

That's not a bad deal for the price, and 430W is probably enough. Depending on your budget, though, there are better 430 and 450W PSUs out there.

The label on this one says otherwise. The platform does support dual rails, but they are usually joined on the S12G and G-series retail units.

Being a single rail DC-DC converted unit, OCP and OPP are exactly the same thing, since nearly all of the power comes from the same rail.

With that said, however, the S12G based PSUs I've...
