Silencer Mk3 from PCP&C (400-600W) - MKIII 600W Review @ HH

PC Power & Cooling today launching the Silencer MK3 series in wattages ranging from 400-600w.
It seems that, Seasonic is the OEM of PCP&C MK3 Series.

Yay!.. another Seasonic unit(SS-xxxET) in an endless sea of other more or less similar Seasonic units.. Am I the only one getting tired of Seasonic!?.. but it's white, so I suppose it looks good..

I was expecting something else, something 'new' maybe..

Elledan 11-09-2011 07:53 AM

Well, at least it's truly silent, right? *grin*

rafal_iB_PL 11-09-2011 08:09 AM

Given Adda fans I've heard so far, probably not. But I expect it will be quieter than CPU and GPU coolers in most systems.

The AD1212HB-A71GL is a ~40dB(A) fan, so it's gonna be loud at full tilt. Even louder than most GPU & CPU cooling fans.

I'm surprised no one noted that this is a modular PC Power & Cooling unit with a large overhead fan. :p
Good to see though, if the price is right in the US, we'll definitely have a worthwhile unit on our hands.
As it does have a unique design (since it's white) and it is modular, where most S12II Bronze based units are non-modular.

rafal_iB_PL 11-09-2011 08:58 AM

Oh, I meant at idle. Forgot to add.

Smirnoff 11-09-2011 09:16 AM

Oh my god! It is modular. Satan's realm must be completely encased in ice now.

Ripple was very meh though. Not up to the 760 and 910 standards.

Oh, at idle, assuming it doesn't click (that model is hit or miss) it will be "quiet." Not exactly the smoothest fan in terms of bearing or airflow noise; but definitely not something I'll notice sitting at the bottom of my case and through the side panel.

I'd wait for another review, I've got a feeling those results are not correct as all other S12II Bronze reviews have shown much lower ripple on the 12v & minor rails. 25mv on the 12v & <20mv on the 5v/3.3v.

Even [H]'s review, which was by far one of the "worst" showings for this platform, didn't have ripple that high.

They've been listed on newegg and the prices seem okish considering they're modular.. 70/80/90$ for 400/500/600W.

But really, do we need yet another mainstream product line from Seasonic!?

Ouch, that's high, but not terrible. Not as bad as Seasonic's prices (S12II 430w = $80 / S12II 380w = $75.)
Not exactly Value, but considering what you get; that 400w is perfect for most people.
If it can go down by $10, the 400w & 500w units will be perfect for most people.

Do we need another high end unit from Super Flower coming to the market. :p

While it's boring and I love seeing new stuff coming out (like Aurum or OCZ going with Great Wall.) I do not see a problem with good units coming out.
