just picked one up for 60 bucks. read review elsewhere and they were very positive then i read you blew 2 of them up. not cool. is the hot box test realistic or just an extreme?
P5B dlx
e6300 (probably gonna overclock 2.5-3.0 range)
tuniq 120
2 120mm fans @ 7 volts (crossing +5&+12 rails)
2 or 3 hd's
dvdrw
alwasy some sort of usb crud
2*ddr2 sticks
7600gt
calculated overclocked to 3.0 with 100% load to be 411 watts with an online calculator. as long as i stay under 650 i should be straight right? or should i just ebay this up and get something else.

The hot box is extreme.
Still doesn't mean I "fogive" the Antec Trio. It's a "cheap" PSU without being a complete turd. Which just means you're probably not going to blow yours up any time soon, that's all.

gotcha... its a step up from my free ultra V 500 watter which may or may not have in conjunction with a TV tuner card blown up my old M/B...
Any 100 or under suggestions other than this guy? i saw it floating around for 60 (40 under the going price) and i jumped at it. might just hang onto it for my intents n purposes for the price anyways...

I would return the TRIO if I could. Antec, in an effort to sell silence, has under-rated the fans in all it's PSUs. They did this with full knowledge of how hard they have been squeezing thier OEMs for more profit at the retail end.
If I had to use any Antec PSU, the fan would be up rated, 80mm to 55cfm@12V and 120 fans to 85cfm@12V.
An excellent 600W PSU is the new Ultra X-Pro. Silentpcreview.com has a full test/review up.

ugh not the news i was hoping for news... still gotta wait on a rebate for this guy as well...$40...
well got some time to do some thinkin during shipping. given my usage specs (probably a 24/7 pc as well) think this thing is gonna take out my system or do u think id be ok with it... reason i jumped is because it seemed to give really steady outputs under load. game occasionally... do some movie encoding... etc.
i just figured the Ultra V had to go if i was gonna do any OCing. this is a step up from that no?
in all honesty id rather keep it but if im asking for trouble then...

I did NOT say the sky was falling.
The TRIO is not as good as the NeoHE series. I will say that. :)

I have a NeoHE series PSU in my current PC and it would beat the tar out of an Antec Trio PSU in my opinion. It is on 24/7 with no problems.

thank for your input fellas... you have to understand that im not trying to get the top of the line stuff... going for bang for buck... i kno there are betters. the point of this post was to see if it is worth 60 more than my current supply (ultra 500 v series) which i got for free, and that it isnt going to go down in flames and take the rest of my hardware with it... thats all. neeeded something stable to OC a bit. based on the majority of reviews and your input im in good shape .

Personally it doesn`t seem to matter who Antec uses to make there PSU`s they just are not getting it right!
Yet at the same time there are many people using Antec PSU`s who are not having issues.
Only you can make the call to return it!!
Good Luck!!

Disagreed - what makes you say that? For $60, it's hard to beat.
