And most of gabes points have been adressed in the methodology employed here and a couple of other places. ;)

Though why he is so hell bent on the Chroma is beyond me (well actually I could guess but I won't).

Not to take over, but didnt want to start a thread just to ask this

In testing a psu by shorting the green to any black on the ATX connector and having no load at all on the psu. Will this blow it up or damage it in any way ?

No.

Used to be the answer was yes, but not anymore.

Just don't load up one rail without having anything on any of the others, like when some people use a second power supply to just power their pump, lights, fans, etc. That's not good for most power supplies.
