The FSP looks nice, hopefully it performs well. The Mushkin on the other hand looks to be Topower again....thats to bad.

It is;) Those 6x12V rails and cables are a dead giveaway:p

If the insides of that FSP turn out to be full of OST caps, and it's group regulated, I'm going to be very disappointed.

That thing is tiny:p

That's why I think I'm going to be disappointed :(

It's possible to fit indy regulation in there and still get 1kW out of it methinks, but I don't think FSP is going to go that way now. Look how they treated their last generation of indy units, the old server models. The only one of them to end up even remotely targeted at enthusiasts was the FSP550-60PLG single 12v rail, and only under the Sparkle name as the FSP550PLG-SLI.

They're still available, sure, but they're as loud and inefficient and ugly as ever. The only new ones to get indy regulation were the Zen models, which are obviously aimed at silence nuts, not enthusiasts.

They just figured they'd leave the indy models alone and bet the farm on the Epsilon design, and I reckon the 1kW is just an extension of that. But I'd love to see them prove me wrong ;)

I was thinking that FSP might be up to their old tricks again
500w+500w=1000w:lol:

I still don't think FSP is going to go indy... they've proven to me they want to go the cheaper route.

Supposedly, this FSP unit will be the basis of the OCZ ProXstream 1KW.

Has to be. OCZ is using FSP and both FSP and OCZ are making the claim that they have the smallest 1kW PSU.

I'd have to see the inside though. Like OkW said, if they use the same practice used as in the Epsilon, I don't expect great things... or long lasting things. Don't know. Has the Epsilon been out for more than a couple years yet? Curious as to what the RMA rate is on those now.

Sorry everyone. I took this thread WAY off topic.

This is about Mushkin and FSP.

When I have pics of the other 1kW unit I was talking about, I'll start a new thread and move the deleted posts into it. :D
