I've spent the past couple of weeks looking at the options for an agp upgrade (I have a very old Asylum fx 5700 ultra). None of the x1950's ever stay in stock. Is it worth the money and time to hunt one down, or is there an easier/cheaper option. I'm starting to think about just getting a lower level ati.

The 7800GS is only around $230 and doesn't suck as much juice{close};)
I remember when I thought my eVGA 5700U was the shit:p
I upgraded to a 6800GT, night and day;)

Now this has caught my eye.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161065
It would be a significant improvement over my current, and I think enough to get me by for a few years, right?

That has only a 128 bit bus vs the 256 bit bus on the 7800GS at the same price;)
The 512mb of GDDR3 will be useless at 128 bit bus speed:p

for an aging AGP platform, I wouldn't spend too much simply because PCI express is the new standard.
256mb HIS X1650Pro (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161053)
or
256mb XFX 7600GS (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150190)
I was using a PCIe 7600gs until just recently when I upgraded to my x1900gt. at it's stock 400/400 speeds, it was nearly the equal of a 16 pipe, overclocked X800XL in gaming performance. plus it had better HDR and SM 3.0 capability.
