View Full Version : jonny, are you sure the rail limits of the ENP-5140GH are set at 16A/18A?

16A for the +12V1, 18A for the +12V2?

Everything but the 4-pin CPU plug is on +12V1. This makes no sense.

That's what Enhance says.

I would think the CPU was on the 16A and everything else on 12V2. But I find that they often criss cross confuse what to number the labels. For example; there's a thread where someone asked me if I meant the PCI-e's were on 2 and 4 and not 3 and 4. For that PSU, it doesn't matter because all rails had the same limit.

With the Enhance, I can't tell you for sure that the rails were set to 16A and 18A because I didn't test the OCP. I only tested the maximum capability of the combined 12V rail.

In confirming the combined 12V rails were in fact limited to 28A, I put a number of experimental loads on the unit. I found that each 12V rail's limiters have in fact been set to exactly 16A and 18A
This says you did...

Ok. :D

I do so many that it's hard to remember. ;)

IfI confirmed it, I confirmed it. Why question it now six months later then? :D

It just doesn't make sense to me, that's all. That's like 12A of wasted power for a regular system.

Quite a lot of manufacturers put more capacity towards the CPU in ATX12v2.0 PSU's than is neccesary. It is a rather common occurence.
