There are several threads here dealing with PCP&C PSU's and from what I can tell the general consensus is that they're very good, but very overrated and too expensive considering their competition.
I'd like to ask the board to put all of the various myths, FUD, etc about them in one place. One primary reason for my request is to have a cogent argument on hand whenever a fanboy begins chanting the PPC&C mantra over on the AMD Forums.
Specifically the claims of their single shop manufacture, multiple rails vs. single rails, relative quality of their components and warranty issues.
thanks.

Ok! :D
Ater CES... and the meetings and unpacking and everything else... I should have more time to create more stickies.
I do have plans to put a lot more information into this site.

Excellent idea. Mind you alot of the thoughts and opinions on all that FUD are actually FUD itself....
For example dual rails verses a single rail...each has it`s own good points as well as bad points.
Then we can get into obvious FUD such as the modular vs non modular issue.
Even though the PC Power & Cooling website will tell you differently(aka FUD) common sense will tell you that they are splitting hairs when it comes to new PSU`s or for that matter a PSU that has been plugged in and left alone....
So alot of so called FUD is really FUD but somethings are at best personnal opinions.
Excellent idea...only a proposed sticky dealing with FUD should be iopen to all FUD by all brands..... :D

then you should perhaps create one yourself. I'm specific in what I'm looking for and that is FUD committed only by one company, PPC&C.

This would be a most excellent project for the young JEDIYoda. In the past he has promoted the brand as an insane, blind fanboy.
Very good indeed as he knows all the ins & outs of marketing. *a big Borat double thumbs way up*

It strikes me as laughable that you want a whole sticky on supposed FUD by PC Power & Cooling.....vendetta perhaps???
Other than my communications via PM with Jonny nobody really knows what I believe concerning PC Power & Coolings "Myths" or "FUD" as others would call it.....
You take the FUD away you have a very nice well built quality PSU....albeit $$$
If you are looking for FUD by PC Power & Cooling...heres the site.....read a little...no need to for a sticky when its all documented for the public to see on there site...
http://www.pcpower.com/technology/myths/
Of course Jonny will be so busy when he gets back maybe he can delegate the sticky you requested to maybe having a mod take care care of the easy stuff...
I nominate Galvanized who is immensly qualifies to identify FUD!!!
There you go. You could have easily done that yourself.....rofl...:D

jeez...I ask for information and you give propaganda. I never said PPC&C units were bad and I have no axe to grind against them other than the elitist attitude their fanbois take whenever their precious Silencer is criticized.

No vendetta, just the truth.
Rather than share such profound secrets with jonny, why not openly post them here? Cowardace perhaps?
You've posted FUD based on Doug Dodson's party line for almost two years. Linking or pasting his FUD at every turn. I do think it's time the number 1 fanboy clear this FUD issue up.
Mr Wicked & CAD, in the last year over at AnandTech there has been two 510 Turbo Cooled units posted that went into melt down. No other hardware was damaged.
PCP&C sell referbs/used PSUs like BMW or MB sells pre-owned cars :D Yeah right!! If the TCs were so great they would not be populated with Teapo capacitors. ;)
(Teapo are OK in mid-range / tier#2 units, like Enhance, imho)

Yeah - at the prices they sell for, there's really no reason not to use one of the high end Japanese makers for the caps like the rest of the tier one players, even though I like Teapo now.

It just goes to show the heightened interest and controversy by simply pricing something way and above the competition, one of the very marketing reasons pcp did it.
Imo, its basically a con trick, I know these marketing tactics well indeed, not saying they are bad, probably very good, but just my THEORY *no better than the top of the rest like say a olympia, or jonnys fave x thingy.
* It may well transpire that it could be way better than the rest, so will be interesting 2 C, whilst I am fairly convinced, I am open to the fascinating findings, all 0.1% of my doubt:D I would still like one tho', and yes, I think its a fair point to criticise the caps., for the price, you expect superlatives, regardless of if the teapo perform as well. I think to a limited extent, that proves a bit of profiteering.
It may well be tho' that the posh jap ones provided no benefits upon extended testing, if that was done, and the price would have to be passed on, its roughly 5x mark up, so a $1 cap would cost joe bloggs, mr average customer/consumer/end user/goon, (brit equivalent of john doe....is anyone actually named that in reality????, bit embarrasing if so, not quite so as dick spring, irish politician, really) $5.
anyway, looking foward to all the interesting stuff coming on the site...can't wait

sent that apology you owe me, yet, mr little green squashy yoda ? a jedi should be humble
What an apologie for somebody who has no clue and apparentlyknows it all??
rofl.....
As I have stated in the past and will continue to state....
Nobody is twisting your arm to make you purchase anything you iether don`t want to purchase or can`t purchase!
By your expamples all PSU`s should be priced cheaply....
What boggles the mind is you apparently know it all but have never used a PC Power & Cooling PSU....
Sure they are expensive but so is everyone elses PSU if we apply your logic based on your thinking..
So lets take a look at all PSU`s...a few dollars here and there for parts and workmanship maybe say spemd $50 max for a top notch PSU?
Let me guess you use the OKIA 500watter because after taking into account true value of parts it costs maybe $30 out the door...rofl.....
Nobody said PC Power & Cooling was cheap.
On the other hand nobody who knows anything about PSU`s will tell that they are a crappy PSU iether. Nobody has ever said that at best they were an average consumer PSU....
There reputation speaks for itself...that is once you take away the FUD....
even Jonny has said that!!
But seeing as how you know it all....rofl....

How many 850's and 1kw TC's have you heard of melting down? A friend of mine had to RMA his 850 TC a year ago for popping fuses like popcorn, but
that's the only one I've seen go to the dogs. I can't say the same for the Silencers:p

I don't look or search for blown PSUs CAD, I just happened on those two 510 TCs over at AnandTech. PCP&C's price and marketing makes the users act like insufferable snobs.
They are good but thier 1kW unit is not worth $500.

If Someone had a gun pointed at my head and said choose between a
750 Silencer Quad or a 850SSI TC, I would grab the 850 and duck the bullet:D

The Silencer 750 is a single rail as far as I know although, it'd be a toss up. The 850 tri rail SSI TC (which I have personal experience with, not talking out my ass here) is loud as hell. The fan's one of those three bladed prop Delta things (at least it look like those made by Delta) and it not only has bearing growl at low RPM, as the RPM's increase it starts whining like my ex-wife. I dunno which I was happier to see go, the 850 TC or the ex.

Anything with a Delta screamer is going to be more then loud:p
Let me put this another way, If I needed as much power as these two units
put out and was faced with the choice of having to power 10+ drives, dual
this and quad that, and was worried more about my componets longivitey
then the noise of my PSU, once again the TC would prevail over the Silencer:)
But then again thats just me as I already have 5 Delta screamers in my server:p What's one more?
The Silencers have just rubbed me the wrong way ever since the Silencer 470
had to be ripped out of my old mans rig for killing his mobo and hard drive.
I know you can't compare the Silencers of yesterday with the ones now, but,
I along with a few clients and people I know, just have been put off by the Silencers, not saying their bad, but just not as good as they claim vs the TC.
IMAO, PC Power&Cooling are no longer the only big fish in the pond, and I feel they know this now too, hence all the FUD preached on their site. I never
recomend any of their units to clients, but your always going have some one
out there who is still under their spell and can't be told different:o
