:fire:OK, ladies and gents, that great benefactor is at it again. Does anyone have a response other than here we go again?
I'm sure it will have unfortunately useful features, lol, then again ..:wall::@:wtf::beer::rant::fire:

What do you mean, "at it again"? MS has said that they want to be on 3 year release schedule. 7 was released in 2009, which puts 8 as coming out in 2012. I would certainly hope they have a beta available before then, wouldn't you?

Then don't get 8 when it first comes out. There is no rule that says you are required to upgrade the moment something new comes out.

I wonder whether Win8 is going to be NT6.2 or 7.0. Major changes or just some minor redecorating?

Also, I predict Win8 will slip to 2013 or 2014, knowing MSFT :D

And when will it get widespread support of software/driver vendors is another story. 7 is around for a good while and some vendors still didn't release suitable drivers, especially for x64 version. I'm currently working on programming the PLC driver in chainsaw, company still hasn't released USB drivers for Windows 7 x64. Ugh. Gotta use RS-232 - at least that one works.

If they make it NT 6.2 it should be driver-compatible, which would make sense. It's not like Windows needs a major driver architecture overhaul after everything they changed in 6.0/1 :) They introduced so many new APIs as well which still need to gain acceptance. I can't see them changing everything yet again.

Mac OS X does this with every new revision, which can be pretty disruptive, but I guess the devs got used to this pattern. With MSFT OSs there's always been this assumption of backwards-compatibility.
