Pretty badass..

8x WD 74GB Raptors running on 2x Adaptec 1420SA 4ch SATA RAID cards, 4FB FB-DIMM, 2x Xeon 5130 Ghz 4MB 1333FSB CPUs..

And a large Intel server chassis w/2x 830W redundant power supplis.

I glanced at the label on the redundant PS unit.. +12v = 62a!

Made by Delta - no reference to mulitple rails, although I doubt they put 62A on one rail..

Thoughts?

It wouldn't surprise me to see one big rail. Look for the EPS colors on the 12V wires, if it is multi rail and EPS compliant it should have yellow, yellow-black, yellow-blue, yellow-red, ETC.

I'd venture that if they're all straight yellow then it's one rail since they'd want to identify the rails for server setup.

I will do that tomorrow.. I think I got a boner building this server.. :D

 think I need to go change my drawers! I sure could use one of those Adaptecs, even a two channel. I've got room for one more controller, I rather it be SATA.

And may I ask what is the purpose of this rig besides serving?

Not sure.. I am a hardware wholesale distributer, I'm a salesman, but I build high-end servers for my some of my customers, I don't really trust anyone else to do so..

I hear they are Sequel Server servers

Configuration:
Intel S5000PSLSATA motherboard (http://developer.intel.com/design/servers/boards/s5000PSL/index.htm)
2x Intel Xeon (Woodcrest) 5130 2.0GHz 1333FSB Dual Core CPUs
Intel SC5400BRP Chassis http://developer.intel.com/design/servers/chassis/SC5400/index.htm
1 six drive Hot Swap chassis
1 four drive Hot Swap chassis
Additional 830w redundant power supply module (2x 830W Hot swap power supplies)
4 1GB Kingston FB-DIMM 1GB DDR2-533 Intel verified mem modules
2x RAID10 arrays, using 4x 74GB WD Raptor 16MB cache drives per array (Yes, that's a total of 8 drives)
2x Adaptec 1420SA PCI-X RAID controllers

That's about it - they are ~5500.00 each, I sold them 2 units.

And GAWD, these things are LOUD!!!

boner? hell, I bet you did a jig when you got the go ahead to build those monsters!:D
How much do one of those Adaptecs cost:confused: I can only imagine the heat those rigs put out!

62A on one rail inst bad. check out the review jonny did on the zippy 850w, 60A rail right there :)
