I know it's been bugging me; but what's the deal with this brand, the only unit I have seen use them is OCZ with the ModXStream Pro units.
Though they don't fall into the normal Tai/Chinese/Jap capacitor rankings as they are German made from what I can tell.
Are these any good?
I'm mainly asking because I'm re-capping a MXS-P 500w unit; and I can just spend another $5 to get a UCC or NCC primary cap. Or leave this sucker in there.
Either way; the Trec's gotta go.

I think they are a pretty good brand. Due to being relatively unknown I can't really comment further, other than to say I would place them alongside that of teapo just to be safe. Only place I have ever seen them in was a Otis Lambda II elevator controller. They were along side rubycons and NCC's. Primaries hardly ever fail, even from atrocious companies so I wouldn't worry about it.

That what I thought; I just wasn't sure if there was any instances where they were measured to be far off base from their spec'd values.
I may just replace it cause the unit is ~3 years old. (Just went out of warranty a month ago.)

i wouldnt have bothered replacing them. instead i would have recommended keeping an eye on them and letting us know how long they last :)

EPCOS is a very reliable source of electronic components such as ferrite cores and el-caps.

Sorry I missed this the first time round. EPCOS is rarely seen in consumer PSUs because it's a German company. I wouldn't worry about the quality of their stuff.

I don't think they're the best but they sure as hell aren't the worst. They're good enough that you don't have to worry about them blowing or replacing them. Theyre not as good as Rubycon and Panasonic but they should not be ranked anywhere close to the Tai/China stuff.
They're kind of like Elna. Elna is a good brand but practically no ones uses them, so no one ever thinks of them.
I have EPCOS on my XFX GF6200 and it's been going strong for about 3-4 years now.
