Hi all,
what's the difference between the existing HX series with the new gaming series?

GS are CWT PSHII units rated at 40*C, with Taiwanese capacitors, fixed cables, a three year warranty, and a blue LED fan.
HX are more high-end.

Put another way, GS are CX series (still solid, but a step down in quality from even the VX series) plus blue LED bling.

This isn't true, they're entirely different platforms with different specs. GS is significantly better than CX.
Basically the problem was that VX/TX/HX used to be all pretty much the same quality (and costs were very close, save for the add-on for modular cables on HX).
CX is basically designed to be the best <$50 products out there - and GS is meant to be the best price/wattage balance for a "gamer" type of PSU (for which, believe it or not, there is a significant market).
TX, HX, and AX will remain the higher end, enthusiast and up, products.

That's the new FAX series. Which doubles as a paper shredder since we sharpened the fan blades.
Seriously though - there's a lot of different people out there buying PSUs and for the past 4 years we've only been able to address our core market. We've done well there - so now it's a matter of expanding into new markets that we don't currently address. That's all CX and GS are for.

Huh. Obviously, you'd know, but that wasn't the impression you gave me earlier (http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showpost.php?p=60904&postcount=15).
They're both 3 year warranty, 80 plus gold white, 40°C rated, Taiwanese caps...
I agree it's a different platform and all that, and I'm sorry if I gave that impression. The fact that they're significantly higher wattage is so obvious I thought it didn't need to be mentioned. I was referring to the quality level Corsair is aiming for.
Can you explain how a GS600 is better than a CX400 in any way other than 50% more power?
Ah... I just noticed that the new CX430 is a step down: 2 year warranty (http://www.corsair.com/products/cx430/) and rated for 430 W at 30°C.
Is that what you're referring to?

@Redbeard
Is it true that Corsair will reduce (significant) the shipping of review samples? At least in Europe this is what I 've heard.

Not sure what you're talking about. We just sent out huge numbers of AX850s and AX1200s for reviews over the past few months. It's normal that there's a lull in between sample requests that correlates with new product launches. We wouldn't send out a 3 year-old TX750 for review right now, there's nothing to be gained by the reviews.
We typically review new products, and when we have new products we will send them out for reviews. This is not tied only to PSUs, but also cases, coolers, memory, SSDs, etc.

Robert P. told me he has no budget to send me review samples.
You have to keep in mind that these Companies only allow so many products to be sent out for review. Once they hit the magic # they are done. That's why you will see on occasion, some sites buying their samples rather than requesting them.

Something similar I heard too. Thats the main reason I asked.

Yeah the Q3 and Q4 review sample budget was finalized months ago - we have to budget everything we send out for samples, and he has to finalize that based on a number of criteria usually a month or two before the actual quarter starts.
So for example, with the 600T case we might send out 20 cases in August, 12 cases in September, and 8 cases in October. As the Product Manager for Cases, I sit down with Robert (and Gareth and Alex and Paul and Scott, our worldwide guys) and work out which sites we want covered based on a number of criteria like traffic, our relationships, the type of site (JonnyGuru does great PSU reviews but not exactly the #1 site for SSDs), etc.
So if you want to get your name on the review list, the best way to do it is to come in as soon as a product is released, show the traffic of the site and link to some previous reviews, and just be open to the product lists.
PSU reviews are pretty tightly controlled because there are only a few sites that can do "real" PSU tests. I know the AX list is pretty much finalized, and I think they were working on a plan for other products, but it sounds like that's done.

Always the diplomat. You could have come out and said - we will not be sending out review samples to sites that cannot do "real" PSU tests!
I use your product in all my new computers!

I am still waiting for the AX1200 to come :( (although I got AX850 and HX750)
You have send it to all over the world and missed to send it to TheLab which is one of the few sites that can do "real" PSU tests :)

Hmm... Maybe we will have to do something about that :D.

Bleah! PEBKAC. I meant "80 plus *plain* (as opposed to gold). Sorry about that.
