ok as a follow on..I have narrowed downish...

ocz 850 watter, at $170

etasis 750 watter

hiper 730 watter, around $160 not the type R.

I can get an enermax 1000watter secondhand, but have heard stories of blow ups.

pc power 1000 watter, but there are a few models, this is s/h, too, not sure which model...both of these may still be pricy.

seasonic s600, got a good review.

and of course, atrix 720 watter, cheap!! be interesting to see these tested!!

what do peoples think is best, also, to say get an 850 watter that turns out to be 600 watts in practice, or a true 600 watts?

You might look into the Ultra X-Pro 750W. It has the same innards as the Duro 900 which has incredibly low 12V ripple at full load and has the 12V rails bridged into one large rail.

Man I've read these reviews over and over, I hope I made a wise choice. After all it is a "tier 1"..

It and the X-Pro 750W are both tier 1's. The X-Pro is based on the SevenTeam 750W unit. Either way, they're both solid.

I think the warehouse is doing inventory until after the first of the year, so you may not be able to get X-Pro 750W or 800W until after then.
