Hi,
first let me say what an informative forum :)

I have an akasa pax power 400w ak-p400fg barly used but over a year old bought from ariapc in the uk.

When I turn it on it powers on and off at one second intervals - on/off on/off on/off etc.

i have tried it with nothing connected bridging the green and black wires in the connector.

has anyone seen this before? Any ideas why this would happen?

Thanks in advance

Rob

It does the on/off on/off thing when the green and blak are bridged, while plugged into a PC or both? You're not really clear here.

Sorry Jonny,
It displays this behavior when plugged into the mobo and I power it on as well.

The fans all spin (like a pulse of power) then stop. spin/stop etc

This also happens to the fan on the psu and its crappy light on the psu fan goes on an off with them as it spins up and down.

Hope this helps

If it helps I have uploaded a short video of what it does that VLC will play here:

Thanks again in advance

If the PSU shuts down when you try to turn it on it often indicates a short.

This shows what my power supply does better:

Any way to fix or shall I just bin it?

I'd just replace it with a quality 400-550 watt unit. Does it have any warranty?
