This is not my first building, but is the first where the PSU should be installed on the bottom of the case.
My question is: should the PSU fan be facing the bottom of the case or should be facing the top of the case?

Well, it would help to know what case you're working with, and what kind of surface your case will be on.

Generally, if you want your fan to be facing down make sure:
1.) Your case has a vent down there
2.) You're not setting your case on carpet
3.) The feet or casters of your case raise it high enough off the ground so that plenty of airflow can reach your vent.

The case is Cooler Master 690 II Advanced (http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6638): it will be placed on a desk made with laminate.
The pictures on the site suggest to mount the PSU facing down...

It doesn't really matter...but having the fan pulling in air from outside the case would be better. Less likely to drop a screw or something in there and the PSU will like the cooler air a bit more...but in the end either way will work.

Got the message.

Thank you boys.

Like he said, it won't matter much either way.

Generally, the preferred method is facing down as room temps are generally lower than case temps.

I like having the PSU facing down in all my cases. Gives them a cleaner look IMO.
