Well, I was just doing some brainstorming. I want to build a little ITX system (i7 860). After some passes through the Antec PSU calculator it recommended 400 watts if I go ATI, or 440 watts if I go nVidia. So I'm looking for a 500 - 550 watt unit. But there's a few things I need the unit to have:
1) Modular cables.
2) At least 1 6-pin and 1 8-pin PCI-E connection.
3) Quiet, but not passive.
4) High efficiency.
List of components are:
Case: Lian Li PC-Q08B
Mobo: Zotac H55-ITX WiFi
CPU: i7 860
Ram: Corsair XMS 1600, 4GB (2x2) dual channel kit
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 5870 / GTX 470
PSU: ? (ATX)
Little or no overclocking potential on this board. Cost of PSU negligible.
Thoughts or opinions? Thanks, as usual.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010 He wanted a high efficiency, 500 to 550W PSU, not a 750W wich would be pretty inefficient due to light load...
And by the way:
There's the Enermax 87+ Series out there...

Could consider the SeaSonic M12II 520W.

Thanks for the rec; this one is in the running. Seems to meet my criteria.

Go back to your 2000 noisy fans. lol
I wish Seasonic made a Gold certified unit at less than 650 watts.
However, if I were going to go higher than 550 watts, I might consider the Cougar G600 (http://www.cougar-world.com/cougar_gx.html). Anyone have thoughts on this one? Gold cert. Seems brand new to market.

Not modular.
Then there's the Enermax modu87+, but no sub-700w units. The Enermax Liberty ECO 620 is modular, got a good review by Wolfie, but conflicting reports on build quality elsewhere.
Could consider the SeaSonic M12II 520W.
Hmm. I didn't think there were any good modular units from Seasonic sub-700 watts. Bronze isn't bad though. Thanks for the rec.

I wouldn't. They aren't that good of performers, they are ok. Better stuff for the money.

They'll have that. 400-450W from X series.

Modu87+ 500 (http://www.enermax.com/home.php?fn=eng/product_a1_1_1&lv0=1&lv1=25&no=67) and Modu87+ 600 (http://www.enermax.com/home.php?fn=eng/product_a1_1_1&lv0=1&lv1=25&no=68).

Seasonic X650. Probably the best PSU in the world. :p
But is fanless until ~300W load.

Well I'll be damned. I somehow missed those. :o
Thanks.
