Are all of the Coolermaster eXtreme Power's made by Seventeam?
I'm building a system for a friend and I'm looking to save some cash, but I certainly don't want to give the guy a lemon.
Thanks in advance.
the Extreme 430 is Hipro. the Extreme 600 is really just a 500w seventeam.
I'd look elsewhere first.

This guy's system won't be demanding by any stretch. How about now? Though I know nothing of Hipro, are they on the avoid list?
I'm also looking at the V-Series Ultra's...

Hi, I'm making an upgrade for my friend, unfortunately he's tight on budget, and was hard to convince him to pay 53euros for a power supply. maybe later if he goes SLI who knows, he might want to pay more
Question: Would the Coolermaster Extreme Power 550W be enough for this following rig. Can I sleep soundly on recommanding this?
PSU: CoolerMaster Extreme Power 550w
M/B: MSI P6N-SLI
RAM: Apacer 1gb DDR2-800
DVD: 1 DVDRW+/- 18x sata
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 (plans to OC to 333MHz FSB x9) stock fan or AC Freezer Pro 7
VGA: Sparkle GeForce 8800 GTS 320mb
HDD: 1 old pata for now, maybe WD2500KS later on

There are much, MUCH better PSU's than the coolermaster extreme powers. The 12V voltage regulation is quite pathetic on all of them.

Thx Hutch.
i see on the label 16A(+12V1) & 16A(+12V2) so a max combined output of 384W ?
I do know than other existing PSUs are much better but I'm limited to choosing one that CANNOT exceed 55euros. here's what I can do, I can put all the PSU I find a the 3 available stores for my friend and I.
here's what I dug up so far: (will update list)
Seasonic S12 380 Watt =57eur [will this be enough for only the components on my previous post ?, I know Seasonic is damn well so if this one cuts it, I'll jump on it.]
Spire Rocketeer III 500 watt
Spire Rocketeer IV 600
Antec EarthWatts 380 =47eur
Antec Basiq Power 500 =57eur
Chieftec 500w GPS-500AB-A =57eur

The newer extremepower 430 is actually a Seventeam build that was given a good review by jonny.

scratch chieftec off that list. and out of curiosity, and I ask this question a lot, why is your friend spending so much on the other components, particularly the video card, only to go cheap on the power supply? And unless he's going to be installing Vista, there really isn't any need for a DX10 video card, so he can save quite a bit of money, get a radeon X1950GT or nvidia 7900GT and have more money to get a better power supply.
as far as the OP goes, the coolermaster extreme 430 with the "PCAR" model number is the one to get, not the "PMSR" one. I also believe it would be much better than an Ultra XVS.

Basically he wanted a new computer, his mom said he was allowed to have a budget of up to 700euros, he himself is was to take 50 euros out of his own pocket in addition. He wants to be able to play to Supreme Commander and Oblivion but also games soon to come like Crysis, Assassin's Creed, Hellgate London and KotOR 3 if it comes out one day. His budget being short, he agreed to salvage some components from his old PC like hard-disk and case, saying that later on he'll plan on upgrading them too.
For the power supply like I said he doesn't know much (me neither compared too you all here) so he was more for the cheapest things like 500W for 29euros LC Power, Linkworld, Blackpower sorta way. It's seems all the cheaper ones are good for the old setups where one needed more on 3.3v and +5v than +12v, or maybe it's because today's graphic cards are so damn hungry on +12v I don't know.
I just came back from his house. we made the order, he chose the Coolermaster Extreme Power 550, he wasn't even ok to stretch the PSU budget to 70euros.
Here is the list of the choices we had (http://www.perfect-systems.nl/computerwinkel/Producten/S207/HG10/voedingen/_9/voedingen.html)
For your second question: why that G80? well a 7950GT costs 298eur. we found the Sparkle 8800GTS 320mb for 272eur +5 shipping. To be honest I haven't thought about the X1950GT, and it looks fair for the wallet at 131euros for the Sapphire 256MB version.
Will his computer crash or cause problems with the Cooler Master Extreme 550 ? I do have a guilty conscience, but I just can't afford myself to give him 30euros more so he gets a Silverstone ST50EF-Plus.

No.
As Bbq pointed out, it's Hipro.

I was really disappointed with the performance of the CM Extreme Power 600W I recently tested.
It goes to prove that even OEMs with somewhat highly-regarded names can make sub-par PSUs.
