I just checked out the caps on an old MSI 7300GT I have lying around as my backup card.

There are four big electrolytic caps. Three are Panasonic ( [M] ) caps rated at 105*C, and the other is a Chemi-Con (KZG) rated at 85*C.

A tad overkill for a 7300GT, no? :p

Not overkill. A good graphics card regardless of what it is should have quite a few caps.

What uf rating are the caps?

The Chemi-Con is 470uF
Two of the Panasonics are 500uF
And I can't see the rating on the third Panasonic

500uf doesn't sound right. I think the nearest number to that is 560uf. Just a technicality though. Those sound about right for a 7300gt. Be glad you won't have to replace them any time soon with them being good brands.

True.

I was mainly just amused at the temperature ratings... I don't think there's any way a 7300GT could hit 105*C without aid of a lighter.

The life time goes up as the temp goes further below the rating.

Rubycon (the company) claims that for every 10C drop in temp the life span doubles. Thats not taking into account the other things like running below the rated voltage, running below the rated ripple current, etc...
