I currently have a 430W Antec power supply, P4 2.8 and a 9800Pro. I'm going to upgrade the 9800Pro to the new x1950Pro AGP in a few weeks and I don't want to worry about a borderline PSU so I'm thinking about upgrading it now too.

Whatever I get I want to be able to reuse it when I do a "proper" new system about a year from now when the new combat flight simulator I play comes out. That upgrade will be whatever about $2K can get me at that time.

What is a good PSU for this situation?

Based on your current specs, you could get by with any "good" 400w PSU,
but for your future needs, being as you want to play flight sims that require
massive amounts of flops and rendering skills{AKA SLI} I then forsee a
Corsair HX620 as your future proofed PSU with a 5 year warranty and being
rated at 50C with slick cables and a snazzy 120mm fan for quiet, cooling
comfort:)

Thanks, that looks pretty good and for a decent price.

Do I have any connection issues to worry about going between my old and new system when I get it or are there adapters and such to handle such problems, if any?

That Corsair PSU is about the same (original) price as this PCP&C 610 watt unit (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817703005) on NewEgg ($189.99 before rebates etc, the Corsair has a $20 rebate/savings as of this post). I'd look into the PC Power and Cooling (even though it's ten watts less) because jonnyGURU put PCP&C on Tier 1 while Corsair sits at Tier 2... PC Power and Cooling makes server grade power supplies (yes there is such a "grade" apparently).

No. Please. Reading comprehension FTW....

I put Wintact built PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cools on Teir 1.

That 610W in your link is a SILENCER. Which is OEM Seasonic.

Same OEM as the Corsair, but the Corsair does have better specs and the Silencer is NOT server grade.

Actually, even though I am loathe to talk about them The Inquirer has an overview of the HX620 where they have it powering a system consisting of a Kentsfield and 3 8800GTX cards without a problem.
