Hi,,,well im upgrading the graphics card on my kids dell to a BFG GeForce 7600GS oc 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card
and was wondering if this psu would work for it "Ultra V Series 500W Power Supply" Just ordered one from frys :)

Dim 4600
socket 478
p4 2.8ghz
80gb HDD ide
1x cd-rw
1x 1gb ddr ram
1x floppy
1x fan controller
3x 80mm fans
1x 120mm fan

the dell PSU was probably fine for that video card it's not a big power consumer
but to answer your question yes the Ultra V 500 will do just fine

My attitude would have me cutting/splicing and moving the pins in the ATX shell.

the dell psu is standard atx,,,,,according to dell tech support.
And I wouldnt be swapping it but the specs on newegg said the 7600gs needed..at least 350w , w/ at least +12v@20a

Hmm,

Pentium 4 Dell Models that do not require a power supply adapter:
Dell Dimension 4300, 4400, 4700, 8200, 8300, OptiPlex GX 400

4600 is not on the list. Thus, I think it's propriatory.
