Budget PSU Guide

I think it would be cool if a guide/sticky was put together regarding PSUs to be used in modern systems that aren't necessarily "high-end." Not everybody needs the brute force of PSUs that can supply 600w+. There are those who simply need to supply enough juice to power, say, a 7600gt + OCed e6300 combo with one or two hard drives. I know most PSUs will be able to do that, but there are still those "weakers" PSUs that are more trusted and will provide better voltage stabilization and build quality along with safer ripple. I'll start the list but my experience is limited so correct me if I'm wrong or if you can think of more solutions. I think we should be shooting for < $70. Please include the cheapest prices, from a reputable dealer, for which the PSU has been found.

I updated my list to add the AMS Mercury. I'll add the others once I learn more about them. I thought the lower to midrange Coolermaster PSUs were supposed to be just mediocre?

I'm very interested in that guide. The system that I will build is almost exactly the one dqniel gave as example, only with an lower GPU (7300GT). :p

300W shoud be plenity acording to this calculator (http://web.aanet.com.au/SnooP/psucalc.php), but I will buy an 350W ~ 400W for some headroom and future upgrades. And no. No SLI in my future, nor super 250W GPUs, as I' not an gammer (only very sporadicaly).

The most important for me is reliability, silence and heat generation (both of wich passes by efficiency). Oh, lets not forget about the price :rolleyes: . At least < $50 , but < $40 would be nice.

The ones here in Brazil that are in this range are: AVC 350W and 400W, that as AMS, rebrand jou jye PSUs; Seventeam ST350BKV, that doesn't seem so good as americans ones, of other series; TT2 430W and Huntkey 450W. That is about it. On an much higher price I can find PSUs like Enermax Liberty 400W, but I'm not inclined to spend so much.

In the end I just want to put my necessities for the guide, and maybe some new information about Brazil.
