I took Jonny's comment into consideration and updated these $ / A (12v) tables and graphs. Now there are two, one for 'tier 1' recommendations, and another for 'tier 2' recommendations.

I also made the current capacity @ 12V more apparent by graphing it along side the cost per amp. The scale is on the right hand side.

Maybe someone else out here will find it useful.

There most definitely could be better deals out there.

Cool.

But I'd rather pay $2.64/A for the Zeus than $2.32/A for the Strider, for example. ;)

Doesn't really reflect quality of unit, etc. At least you kept it limited to a handful of respectable brands. But say you were to throw an OCZ GameXstream or Antec Trio in there, they'd probably have very low $/A ratios, but I wouldn't touch either one with a 10V pole. ;)

That's my dilemma. I made this table to help me figure out which PSU I'll spend my hard earned dough on. The cheapest etasis on there is $158. But I don't need 54 A.

Could one get an Etasis-quality product in the mid 30 amp range? What about the Seasonics / Corsairs? Are they so much better than the ST50EF Plus to justify going from $2.02 / A to $3+?

I think that's a realistic sweet-spot for lots of users. 35+ Amps seems to be plenty to run one 88gtx and an OC'd C2D or X2.

Look into the Silverstone ST56ZF. Very efficient, 5V@40A, 12V@38A, Froogles for $109. Check DeadEye DATA for thier price with our 8% discount.
