Thanks for the link. Personally, I like Jonny's reviews better. But maybe I'm just suckin' up to the man, who knows...

The only other place with decent power supply testing hardware is toms hardware... but even that isnt as good as this. Jonny takes more time, and shows us ripple!

He points out the quality (or lack there of) of the components used inside the PSU, the performance, then style... pretty rounded way of doing it if you ask me.

THG is so bias, like when it comes to ATI vs Nvidia or Intel vs. AMD.
Besides,Tom hasent reviewed any PSU's in a long time

xbit labs does pretty good reviews. their recent roundup of 14 different thermaltake psu's, while a bit dry, is illuminating. It also reinforces the notion that the only TT worth having is a new Toughpower.

Right. Only one of the PSU in that round up was even ATX12V, never mind current product. But like the old Ultra X-Connect that has given Ultra such a black eye, there's still inventory on everyone's shelves. So as long as you can buy the "bad" stuff, people are going to give Thermaltake a hard time.

For the money and the solid construction, I don't know why anyone would buy any Thermaltake other than a Toughpower. I think Thermaltake should buy back all non-Toughpower inventory and put them in a landfill. :D

I think Ultra would need to buy back all the X-Connects from people that already have them too :D

Guys, not many reviwers have the kind of equipment Jonny has, so maybe we should not be so critical. I think it is an issue of awareness, not expertise which dictates the nature of these reviews. However, it is quite apparent when a review is a marketing scam v/s a genuine attempt at testing the limits of a unit.

People who test units in a fully loaded realworld unit would do very well if they only purchased a USB scope with a modest 200kHz Bandwidth ($150) to meaure ripple/transients. There are several available from pico, stingray and a very cheap unit from parallax instruments.
