View Full Version : The best Mobo chipset for Intel Q9300?
02-19-2009, 12:42 PM
I have a brand new Gigabyte Mobo X38-DQ6 that I was planning on installing a Intel Q6600 on. I found the Intel Q9300 for the same price ($170) and bought it. Since the purchase of the Q9300 I have heard whispers that the Q9300 runs much better and OVERCLOCKS better on the P45 Chipset Mobo than on a X38.I am staying with DDR2 memory. Anyone have any experience with and or opinions on this? Will spend up to $300.00 for New Mobo.:D
Probably, however one machine i built has a Q9450 @ 4.0Ghz with that very same Gigabyte mobo, cost an arm and a leg when i built it for the client too. AFAIR its got 6GB Hyperx PC8500 running 1:1 with the cpu and timings tightened to 4 4 4 11 , Radeon 4870 1GB and corsair HX620, tested with my usual 48hr Prime blend and 300 intelburn test (was without GUI back then, just linpack lol). You'll need good RAM as well as you'll be be needing some high FSB to overclock such a low multi cpu.
