Corsair has today unveiled a new addition to its performance-orientated HX-series power supplies in the form of the HX450.
The unit, pictured below, slots into Corsair's professional series below the existing HX1000, HX620 and HX520.
Measuring in at 150mm x 86mm x 150mm, the Corsair HX450 offers the HX-series features that you'd come to expect - including flat modular cables and a super-quiet 120mm double ball-bearing fan that'll adjust its RPM in accordance to to temperature.
It'll offer up to 85 per cent efficiency and guarantees continuous power output at 50°C. In addition to a MTBF of 100,000 hours, it's backed by Corsair's seven-year warranty, and looks a solid solution for those who aren't planning multi-GPU systems.
No word on pricing just yet, but expect availability and a complete specification soon.

Strange to have that low of a wattage modular as someone that gave a crap about modularity would probably need all of the connectors a 450W could support.

I'm wondering why no HX850 or HX750....Something that can run high end SLi or Crossfire with a smaller form factor than the HX1000. I suppose that would probably require another OEM though, since Seasonic doesn't make a platform capable of that at 50C and the PSH is pushing it past 800W and the PUC is too big.

CX400, VX450, HX450, HX520, VX550..............think that market might be saturated by now.

They have a gap in the 750W to 1000W bracket.

Damn, where was this PSU last year? :(
jonny, you'd be amazed to see how many people only use one molex, one sata and one 6 pin PEG connnector, me included. Or two sata and one PEG.

Yeah, but like I said, they would likely need to find a third OEM to fulfill their needs in that bracket. Enhance or Impervio maybe.

Both of them have the capability to make a silent unit at 850W power range. That's nice.

The gap is already filled by BFG ES-800, gotta "spread the wealth" around, don't be greedy. :p

exactly, my first "real" PSU was a 450w OCZ Modstream, and even when I had two 36gb Raptors in a RAID array, two optical drives and an X800XL (which didn't need any external power) I wasn't using half of the available connections.

Oh yeah?
Well we will just have to come out with an 801W PSU then.....that goes up to 11!

It's going to be an EU/UK only product at first. The demand we see for low-wattage modular products is almost exclusively over there.

Yeah, we are more refined here in Europe. :D
