View Full Version : What Other Electronics Do You Enjoy?

Just wondering, what other electronic devices do you play with?

Me I started playing with computers after I bought my first in 2000 to design speaker enclosures. I've done car audio installing for 20+ years, car alarms for the same and dabbled with modding tube guitar amps. I've also designed and built home stereo speaker systems since I was in my teens. I also dabble with audio equipment repair.

Anyone else?

Nothing too technical, but just putting toghether speaker systems and computers.

I grew up building Heathkit HAM radio equipment with my stepfather, and have had n interest in all things mechanical.electrical ever since. I don't enjoy theory as much as I do dabbling, I take apart pretty much anything I get my hands on. :D

Just specialized stuff for my experiments (servo-loops, lock-in Amps, current, temperature and Piezo controllers/drivers etc). Nothing professional or commercial.

Lasers, their ancillary hardware, tons of audio equipment and discrete processors. Non solid state stuff includes tube audio and RF power amplifiers. Lighting equipment and controllers along with servos, galvos, etc.

Car audio and cars in my teens including alarms,stealth,sound off.
19-24-instalation/carpentery built sateilite trucks,blood mobiles,recording studios,
MRI trucks,ambulances,surveilance for Westing house,custom coaches for Vantari{Featherlite} Mobil Tech, Wheelcoach,ECT.
Got in to home audio pretty bad during that time,rich mans hobby there!
After about 5 years of it and daisychaining 2 DD receivers together to see if I could output a true DD signal through my LD-player without having to go buy the $100 AC3 external adapter,I 'd had enough!

24-31-It started with my moms Pc 233MMX:D Intel,ata 33 Qauntum Fireball,
onboard ATI Rage 2mb shared,30mb PC-66{Gateway 2000},and the rest was history!
