Well basically, I had a rig running commando on a computer desk, Well a few days ago my mother had the awesome idea of putting her over watered plant on the desk, right next to the motherboard. Long story short, water leaked under neath the mobo under the ATX connector, result - corrosion and fried mobo.

Today though, I get a new mobo and hook everything up. No POST. After a few more tries, it posts, but then about 5 seconds later the whole screen started artifacting. Now, the PSU had been making this varying hissing noise, that I just ignored. But I noticed the artifacts seemed to be changing in rhythm with the hissing noise form the PSU.

The PSU is labeled as a "PREMIER" 250Watt PSU. I had opened the PSU up many times before, and it certainly looked capable of putting out 250watts. So anyways, I open it up today, I see no bulging caps on the primary and secondary sides. The hissing seems to be coming from the mosfet/capacitor area on the secondary side...

My idea is that internally, the caps are fried, but I have no way to check them..

The PSU has good wiring and decently sized components. It appears to be made by ATNG POWER CO LTD, (link (http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/template/LISEXT/1FRAME/showpage.html?name=QQGQ2.E186010&ccnshorttitle=Power+Supplies,+Information+Technolo gy+Equipment+Including+Electrical+Business+Equipme nt+-+Component&objid=1073787562&cfgid=1073741824&version=versionless&parent_id=1073787374&sequence=1)) and is the AT-250S(b)*[*r] model...

Any help would be appreciated..

Test it with another PSU if you can?

The burnt mobo, which is a Socket 370 with a Pent 3, is fried. Burnt trace.

My new mobo that I got though, a PC-Chips Duron board, posts once in a while with the 250watt, and with a 450watt PowMax, it posts right up. The only other PSU I had was a Deer and that doesn't turn on anymore, no smoke, no pop, no nothing. Its just..dead.

The PowMax powers my spare rig.

The 250 Watt powers up and supplies 3.3v, 5v and 12v. I still think that the caps are borked, but I have no way of checking if they are..
