Good afternoon everyone,

I have a worry/question i would like to try and find the answer for so i have decided to make a post here (After a quick search).

in a month or so i plan to upgrade my graphics card on my machine, i am currently using a x1950 Pro 512mb and would like to use a HD4850.

However my main concern is if my PSU is going to be able to handle it.
Here is my current PSU (http://www.jeantech.com/500.htm)

the only thing i dont fully understand about computers is the PSU side of things, i understand them to some degree however trying to find out how many amps on the 12v rails is needed for certain things just simply confuses me.

So..would the above PSU be able to run the card fine?

my PC is not overclocked and i have the following hardware installed;

4gb DDR2 ram @ 666
intel duo @ 2.66
500gb seagate 7200.11 HDD
Lightscribe dvd re-writer

If i would need a better PSU, how many amps would i need on the 12v rails?

Thanks for you time in reading this post~!

That unit is a low end Sirtec - I think I'd use the video card as an excuse to upgrade a bit. I'm assuming from the fact that it's a Jeantech that you're in Europe? Something like a Corsair VX550 or HX520 would do it, but it depends what you have available to you.

Yes, im from England to be exact im more than willing to buy a newer PSU to run the 4850 on.

the two websites i shop on are
novatech.co.uk
overclockers.co.uk

i was thinking of maybe upgrading to this (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?TT-W0103) Psu the Thermaltake W0103 Toughpower 600Watt.

is there a better choice i could maybe go for? to me this looks good enough and seems to have a good reputation from what ive read.

However i may be wrong on that~

Good choice - it's the same platform as the Corsair I mentioned, as is the Hiper 630W they have.

Excellent, thank you very much for your help.
i have decided i will pickup the 650watt version
(Thermaltake W0104-RB Toughpower 650Watt ATX Power Supply)

it was only an extra 5GBP more than the 600w at least it gives me more room for future upgrades!

once again thank you for the help!
