Hi guys,

i have a high end rig i use for gamming and every day tasks but i'm building a budget system to do simple server stuff, but for personal use, so it doesn't need to be server "grade". I realize, however, that i dont know much about the budget system world. Can someone please give some suggestions for PSU's under $70 that will last and be stable running the following

E6600 overclocked to 3ghz, 4gigs DDR2 800 ram, 5 HDs in raid 5.

I'm considering these two right now:
Thermaltake Silent PurePower W0009R ATX 420W Power Supply - Retail $39

Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC ATX 430W Power Supply - Retail $39

thanks

Neither of those Thermaltakes.

Go with an Enhance ENP series.

Enhance ENP-5150GH 500W

Also the Antec NeoHE 550w is on sale for $70 again at Frys.com

How is that a "simple" server? If all you're doing is file sharing a Pentium 3 would be more than enough. What else do you plan on using this thing for?

I really hate to always sound like the wet blanket...but why on earth would you OC a processor in a server?

I am thinking of getting the Antex Titan 550 as a case (can't afford the supermicros). This case comes with a TruePower 2.0 550W ATX12V v2.0. How does that fair? If I can find the case w/o PSU then i'll get the suggested PSU.

Running complex SQL queries and matlab

This server is for my personal use, I have a small budget to have it do certain computationally intensive tasks. It is not running enterprise critical stuff and I want the most bang from my buck because the time that it completes the computations is important. the faster the better.

A TP 2.0 550W should be fine.
