When dealing with Big Box, one must be prepared to also deal with the outcome of their lax policies. One of those policies is their "no restocking fee, take it back good or bad, opened or closed, etc." return policy.
And as long as Joe Average uses shotgun troubleshooting to figure out their computer problems (buy two of everything until something works), there will be returned good product.
Bix Box buys thousands of PSU's, and returns hundreds. And of these hundreds only a couple will actually be dead or damaged. Of the units that are returned, about half are never installed. Unfortunately, these units do look "handled". The shiny black-chrome finish of the GS-550 looks as if someone polished it with a dry paper towel. So what is BFG to do?
Well... I could spend about $10 and some time with a soldering gun, pull the PCB's and reinstall them in new housing, re-box the product and bounce it back to Big Box... or we can just sell it direct to the customer and eliminate Big Box's markup from the price.
Sooo....
GS-550 is now for sale on the BFG Store for $49.99: http://www.bfgstore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BFGS550WGSPSU
And the GS-650 is now for sale on the BFG Store for $89.99: http://www.bfgstore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BFGS650WGSPSU
They've all been inspected and tested on the SunMoon and given a full year warranty. There should really be no "scratches" or "dents", just scuffs on the housings. All they need is a good, non-Big Box home.
Please spread the word and thanks!
