I also hear that www.performance-pcs.com will also have these in-stock soon. Now, about that review I saw hinted about in the other thread. ^__^
Ladyfox,
who is looking to replace her Silverstone ST60F to power a pair of upcoming Radeon R600's in Crossfire *happy sigh* of which she calls her My Little Commando Ponies

Looks interesting, but for that price I'd suggest going with Silverstone again - ST85ZF in particular. Different OEM than your current unit, and better than the OEM for the Thermaltake. Although, the tT wouldn't be a bad option.

Oklahoma Wolf,
After getting somewhat burned with the ST60F I'm going to stay away from Silverstone PSU's for awhile. Do not get me wrong their support was top-notch when I mentioned I had one of the older models I just was not expecting to pay extra to get the cables I needed in order to resolve the issue especially since I had TWO of their PSU's. That plus the fact that, and this IMHO, they really should have planned better for cards that pulled more power.
Good review or no this girl is staying away from Silverstone for the forseeable future. Besides, the Thermaltake is shorter than the Silverstone's I currently have which I had to squeeze into our Cooler Master Centurion 5 cases and for that alone is worth the price difference.
Ladyfox,
who is'nt ready to give up her custom-painted pink case quite yet just to fit a beefier power supply

Blame Silverstone for not "Planning for cards that pull more power."
I blame nVidia.
They typically refuse to discuss power consumption figures and SLI certification requirements with manufacturers, especially prior to launch.
My guess is Silverstone simply got left out of the loop.
Of course, they're IN the loop now, which is why the Olympia 1kW was bundled with 8800GTX SLI samples when they did the pre-launch circuit.

JonnyGURU,
You have a good point on that score in that the blame may more lie with the GPU vendors rather than the PSU makers. At this point the only people that really wind up losing are end-users like ourselves who wind up having to beg their spouses, and/or having to get the money by other means, in order to be able to power these monsters. Meanwhile, Silverstone, ATI, and/or Nvidia laugh all the way to the bank; taking only a minor black eye in exchange for more profits.
This really is starting to get out-of-hand honestly in the performance-per-watt arena when it comes to GPU's and someone needs to put the brakes on this soon before we wind up having to use two or more PSU's just to be able to power our systems.
Ladyfox,
who really is not bitter just frustrated over the entire PSU problem

Everyone,
Has anyone seen any reviews for this as of yet? I did some digging around and only found the following:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustratingReview.asp?item=N82E16817153043
A couple of the reviews listed here, combined with the entire 750W version buzzing issue, makes me somewhat nervous. However, this is the only modular PSU that is certified for the power-hungry 8800GTX series which some have been saying that the R600's, due out in a month or so, will have the same requirements.
Does anyone here have any first-hand experience with this one yet?
A curious,
Ladyfox

I haven't seen anything in the way of reviews yet.
Edit - so of course one shows up the moment I type that: http://www.tweaknews.net/reviews/thermaltake_toughpower_850w/

Looks like you beat me to posting that URL this morning. ^__^
The review itself is okay but I would have liked to have seen the following:
1. How did the 850W achieve 8800GTX certification if the 8-pin PCI-E connectors are not included?
2. Only two 6-pin PCI-E cables are shown to be included. What is Thermaltake doing about providing additional connectors for cards like the Nvidia 8800 series and upcoming ATI R600-series which will require four 6-pin PCI-E cables?
3. How does the PSU perform in a real-world situation using a pair of 8800 GTX video cards?
4. Was the buzzing that has been reported on the 750W model present?
But, then again, I'm hoping for reviews that have a little bit more meat to them since this is a pretty substantial investment to make.

Also tke into account that those prices are in Canadian $$$. I know that NCIX ships to the states from a warehouse in Washington State so you will probably be able to come out very much on top with the exchange rate.

All I have to say is NCIX is the greatest online retailer that I have been able to do business with. They are so fast, and cheap, and overall uber that I don't even bother buying stuff locally anymore. They always ship stuff with a better service then I pay for, RMA's only take a few days (from time of me sending it back (mon) to me getting it back (thurs) wow!!!), They are usually cheaper (esspeically on RAM) and are just a pleasure to deal with.
Can anyone confirm the issues the 850w has seen with SLI 8800GTX's and C2D and kentsfield? This is the PSU that I am planning on upgrading to (From a 600w GameXtreme) when I go SLI and get my QX6700. The reason I chose this one is because it is only 160mm deep which is the maximum I can put into my case with my RAD in the way...
Or maybe the 1kW OCZ will be the better buy...
