First of all, the 6-pin is not a EPS connector, but a AUX 12v plug for some
mobos.
The 8-pin 12v EPS connector, is for running dual Xeons, like the mobos
that Tyan makes:)

Yeah, I've heard it called EPS 6-pin, but I haven't seen it as part of the SSI EPS specification.
Regardless of what you call it, it's just an auxillary power connector for certain Intel boards. I haven't seen it used in a while, though.

I've frequently seen it listed as a "6 pin Xeon aux. connector."
