2001 for me. I read a review comparing an 800mhz celly to the same speed duron. In the Sandra CPU and memory benches the reviewer would discount the results when the celly led the pair saying that Sandra was a synthetic benchmark and as such shouldn't be held up as being representative of a real world PC application but when the duron would lead the race (in Sandra) the guy was all over it as being the next best thing never mentioning the fact that Sandra was a canned benchmark. Thing is that in the review the AMD led the first couple of bench results yet there was no mention of it being "synthetic and not typical of a real PC" [sic] yet when the Intel chip hit it's stride that's when the disclaimer was unsheathed.

I was actually infuriated at that. I had the same celly but that wasn't the reason, I just couldn't stand to see the blatant fanboism. It's one thing to admit to favoring things, we all like certain things better than others. But to basically be two faced about the importance of benchmark results because it's convenient to you is BS. If you're disappointed at a result, say so but don't belittle the faster part, just live with the fact that some parts are better at certain things. It's like that with both AMD and Intel, there is no one chip that rules entirely on a clock for clock basis unless you are comparing a single core to a dual core or a dually to a quad which isn't fair. Even then there are still cases where the lower core count can still prevail so even then it's still not 100%.
