After I installed the video card last night, I started getting lock ups where the box would freeze and the screen would go black. So I removed the OC from the CPU and it seemed to run fine for the rest of the night, which lead me to believe its a power issue.

Here (http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.aspx?rigid=33136) is my system specs.. Currently running on a NeoHE 550. Unless I'm mistaken, the NeoHE should be able to power all that with out issue... correct?

That said, if the need arises to buy another PSU... which should I choose?

Corsair HX620
OCZ GameXtreem 700
PCP&C Silencer 610

Thanks

What is the video card you installed last night?

Also, your link brings up this:

My.AnandTech! System Rigs Area

ERROR: updating a system rig requires you to login to your rig area and select a rig.

Any chance you could just copy and paste the system specs instead of linking off site?

Thanks!

Also, forgot to add... I was browsing through the PSU manual last night and it stated that if you are running 2 vid cards, to connect 1 PCIe cable to one of the first two connections on the left and the other PCIe cable to one of the 3 connectors on the right. This leads me to wonder if that is where the rails are split and one side would be better suited for feeding a vid card more so than the other

Looking at that, it says you have three 18A 12V rails, but you only have a total of 42A. Something tells me that's not enough for an 8800GTS. They're power hogs. Something tells me that somebody might recommend that Corsair, an FSP PSU in the 600 watt range, or one of the Silverstone Strider or Zeus PSU above 600 watts. The basic idea, though, is you want a lot of available amps on the 12V line.

You could also get a 250W Tt or a 300W FSP 5.25" drive bay PSU that supplies 12V via a pair of 6-pin PCIe connectors to power only your video card and leave the rest of the system to your main PSU.

42A should be more than enough for a single 8800GTS.

I bet the problem IS how you have it plugged into the PSU. If I remember correctly, the last two connectors on the PSU are on a third rail. You might be running all of your connectors off of the same +12V rail and that could be borking you.

I don't remember how the connectors are laid out, but I remember it's in the manual.

Have you confirmed with the manual that you have the 8800 on it's own rail?

If so, either the PSU is borked or your new video card is borked. :(

Ah, true... I don't know why, but I got the SLI card figures stuck in my head. :wall:

Has anybody figured out the true current draw figures on the G80s?

thats just it, there are no markings stating which is left and right in the manual, so its kinda hard to say. WHen I get home, I'll try

2xRaptors 2xSeagates 2xOptical Empty 8800

and see what happens.

Well.... looking at the photos of an old NeoHE 430W review I did.....

http://jonnyguru.com/PSU/NeoHE430/

It looks like the two connectors closest to the fixed ATX and 4-pin cables are on a separate rail from the other three.

hmmm... so by changing the layout to:

2xRaptors 2xSeagates 2xOptical Empty 8800

I would effectively be putting the GTS on its own rail

Update:

I changed the rails around and no dice. It works with the CPU at stock speeds but won't hold my OC. I even backed it down to just 2.93Ghz and then 2.66Ghz... No dice :-( with that said, I'm gonna put in an order for a PSU tonight. Any recommendations? Preferably modular and around the $150-$170 mark
