JG said that the longevity of this psu may be in question. I just wanted to add that I had to rma 2 trupower antec psu's for 2 of my computers in the same month. Once came back in 4 weeks, the other has been gone for 2 months and they still haven't got back with me. Both psu's were only 1 yr old or less. :wall:
I'm done with antec.

I don't think we will dog pile on Antec with heated bad mouth, but I doubt you will find few defenders of thier SMPSs here :p
My favorite Antec PSU pic :D No, I didn't take it, thank goodness.

Apples and oranges - the Trues are a different OEM (CWT) than the Seasonic made Trios.

I never really questioned the Trio's longevity.
It didn't like being loaded up in the hot box and it is made with cheaper components, but it's still better than a lot of other PSU's out there.
Besides that, like OK said, the two PSU's are from different OEM's so they're going to follow their own paths as far as performance and reliability.

I'm not exactly a psu expert but it doesnt instill confidence in the Antec brand name for me despite who made it for Antec. There are better quality units from other companies out there. I'll stay away from Antec and I wont reccomend them to others. Thats just my own opinion/decision though. :(

If I was a Antec tech, I would be forced to quote an old saying:
"Opinions are like assholes......"
But since I'm not,{thank God! I would never get any sleep}
and I happen to own two of them myself,
I both respect and agree to your opinion:)

I made this thread and completely missed that they were 2 different psu's. Mine both were not the Trio models.
I revistited this because a friend just was asking about the 650 lately. Thanks for all the nice reply's.
Speaking of the Trio 650W... can be had for $50 after rebate!
Central Computers (coincidentally centralcomputers.com) opened up a new store in Sunnyvale. Supposedly the $50 rebate can only be had if purchased from their new store, however they have the rebate linked from their web site. Anyways, $99.99 before rebate is still about the cheapest around.

The Trio 650 is a good psu for 99.9% of users. Considering that a typical OC'd Q6600 at max load with a single high end VC at max load will pull about 500w max, the trio will have power to spare. The best thing is, voltage regulation will be stellar. There's not too much to worry about under this example....

I have had two Antecs blow on me, one several months ago, a True Power II 430, and then the replacement True Power Trio blew up right after installing my also replaced video card, which is just an EVGA 7950GT. The supply went POP! Really loud, and then it sizzled and crackled and filled the room with magic smoke. I have decided I will avoid their supplies as well, but only because twice burned twice shy if you will. I know Antec supplies are reasonably good, but you know how it is, if it seems like you keep having the same problem it is time to do something else just in case. I don't want to seem irrational, but when you are on a budget like the one I am on, well...
I am sure they can make good stuff, but their karma with me isn't good. Honestly, if the video card overloaded it, what does that say about the supply?
Could a 7950 GT use that much more juice than a 7900 GTCO? Granted, I wanted to get something stronger ASAP, but I didn't have the cash on hand and thank Heaven's for our good leader here, so far this Infiniti has been terrific. It doesn't even make the Buzzzap sound for me (Probably because I'm not loading it much?)
I am hoping I have the money next month because I am tired of looking at this thing and I need to hurry up and ship it back to Antec on an RMA so I can get the replacement and sell it and keep my promise to buy a certain supply from someone. It's been a costly several months lately for me and I am on a fixed income. I am on the verge of canceling XM it is so tight for me.

Heh, it's Halloween, so...
What was that so called Race of people in the movie _The Chronicles of Riddick_, weren't they called necromongers? Maybe they all worked making SMPSs...
