Do i need an 8 pin PCI-e PSU connector for HD 3000 series?

Hey All,

I'm building a PC for my uncle and i'll be using an HD 3450 video card in his system, basically i need to know if i need to have a PSU with an 8 pin PCI-e to run this card. I would like to futureproof his rig and get him an 8 pin PSU anyway but i still i'd like to know that it's needed. I couldn't find info on ATI's site in regards to this.

AFAIK, the HD 3450 has NO supplemental power requirements. All power is delivered through the card slot.

Wow, how interesting, yet ATI still recomend a 300W PSU for it. Thanx for your answer jonny.

That is for the whole computer, not for the GFX card alone.
