Apevia's new "Warlock Power" 750w psu is completely different than it's others. 1. It's smaller...:wtf:? 2. It weighs 5 pounds, (according to Apevia), 3. It's ATX 2.2 compliant? (It's other models are ATX 2.03 compliant, the 680w has 330w on the 12v.)
It apparently won't blow up either, it has over temp. protection. It also claims 648w on the 4 12v rails and 80% efficiency at full load.
Think you guys can get a hand on one of these?

if I read the UL # right (E178768) it's going to be Wintech built. The same folks who make the Ultra V-series and the new X2 "extreme".
A step up for Asspire, to be sure, but they're still not ready for prime time.
Interestingly enough, it can be had for the same price as the Ultra x2 "extreme" $99 after $40 MIR at the 'egg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817148035)
one to avoid, for sure.

Aspire/Apevia switches manufacturers?
For one: It's not unusual for any company to use a number of OEM's for their product line.
Secondly, Aspire/Apevia has used Wintech before. The PSU in their X-Qpack2 is Wintech too.

I know that it's not unusual to have several oem's, It's just that almost all of the Aspire/Apevia line that I know of is Youngyear built.
:( Sorry. (Quote from the Apevia website. "Voltage valtagees:115V/230V " Someone needs to check their spelling...:))

I kind of brought my crap thread up from the grave. :

They look similar, and Apevia says it's "80 plus compliant" (not listed) and states 80% efficiency @ full load...

HEY!!!! That's 800W I was talking about!
When I first saw the X2 750W, I was thinking that they were using THAT unit. I've tested that unit (about 1.5 years ago, but still) and it actually does 800W. When the X2 750W failed at just over 400W, I was shocked. But then Paul opened it up and found the "WIN-600" part number on it and I understood.
That said, I DOUBT Apevia would "under-rate" an 800W and sell it as a 750W. That's backwards for them. They're more likely a company that would take a 600W and label it a 750W (like Ultra!) Why would they change their ways now?

I still remember the day a few months back when an Apevia "Beast" blew a pair of 8800GTS cards I had on my test system.....good times.
But 86% efficiency at 50% load? Daaayum.

Does anyone plan on getting one of these to test them out to see if they're just as bad as those youngyear units Apevia uses? Would be interesting to see if its actually that 800W listed on 80plus.org or if its a crap unit like the Ultra X2. ^^
