With a variety of aux connectors (4-pin [2x2], 6-pin [2x3], 8-pin[4x2], 4-pin molex), how long do you think it will be before they redo the spec for the main power connector? Although the processors have become more efficient, video cards are doing the exact opposite. Do you think the spec will give out and be revised before secondary power supplies become main stream?

I don't think they're going to change the connector.
Think about the motherboard and the slot, traces and contacts, only being able to provide so much amperage before you start burning them up.
I'd RATHER provide the power directly to the peripheral then run it through multiple PCB's and contacts.
