Quick run on 3D'06

Now we KNOW those cards are going to be CPU limited until a octaquad
CPU is released at 5+Ghz:p

I gained right around 700 points clocking from 2.4 to 2585...one of the cores will fail if I go any higher :wall: So It's time to think about Kentsfield.

I don't want any crapola about playing a synthetic benchmark, 'cause it gives me an idea of the performance from last gen.

With my 1900XT the highest I was able to reach was 6203...so, as you can see 2800 is quite the huge jump, and rightfully so.

Now that I've done all this work on this comprehensive, well rounded review,:crazy:

Sure do, but...I'm having an interesting issue at the moment that I'd like to resolve first.......I can run HL2...3D Mark 06 until the cows come home.....but, as soon as I fire up BF2/BF2142........it reverts to the desktop instead of going into 3D( I did reinstall 21242 to be safe)...this was with 2 differen't driver sets........make sense of that....

Try this,
Take out the 8800GTX,replace with your 1900XT{would be better if you had another Nvidia GPU}, go ito settings on BF2/BF2142,enable custom settings to the lowest{800x600 at least,no shadows,
all low settings,save, then exit out,pop in 8800GTX and you should be able to enter the game and customize to preference.
I have had 2 customers so far complain about the eVGA 8800GTS and
the Asus 8800GTX, concerning BF2/BF2142.
That was the only solution that would remedy the problem for the GTX,
but the GTS turned out to be defective to the point of not booting anymore:eek:

To make a long story short, I reinstalled, this time making sure to get rid of my game profiles. BF2 was installed as well, which had to be uninstalled due to it's apparent *intertwining* with 2142.

So, tell your customers that any BF games will have to be uninstalled completely......profiles too or they'll never get it to launch.


I can do Prey for you, but my highest rez is 1280x1024 on my VX922

Could you not just default the drivers and go with no profiles,mabey there
is a bug in the new drivers,woulden't be the first time;)

The only way I could get it to work was to uninstall the game and the profiles....tried the profiles of both, rebooted.....still the same....complete uninstall was the only remedy.

Defaulting the driver didn't work, had no affect on the inability to launch.

I'll be installing and running a bit later, have some errands to run...looking at 3-6" of snow, and it's coming down already.....time to venture out and get supplies....get the fiancee' all settled on the 360 with Gears Of War...then I can do my stuff :D

EDIT:

On my XT I was pulling 1280x1024 4aa/16af at very playable frames, not sure what they were but only very rare slowdowns.....either way I plan on running 16/16, but I'll give you every setting............Hmm, is there a time demo for PREY?
