So I was changing out video cards, and in doing so...my monitor (Viewsonic G90F) went white (well..greyish white with three horizontal lines at the top). The monitor does this whether it's plugged into the card or not (old or new), so basically eliminated the video card.
Question is...is the monitor done, could it be static charge built up and just needs to sit for a while to let it clear up? Kinda like to get a few opinions before I trudge out to buy a new monitor.

Did you try the old video card again?

yeah...tried both video cards. Screen shows the same whether it's plugged into a card or not, though...greyish white screen. Won't even show the monitor menu screens when using the buttons on the front of the monitor...so can't degauss or adjust anything.

Check the pins in the monitor's VGA connector to see if any are bent or broken. If ok, the monitor may be done for.

kinda what i was afraid of. Pins look fine. where it plugs in in the back of the monitor (power cord...) is real loose. Powers up fine but think that might be part of the problem. Thinking I might be in the market for a cheap LCD today. *sigh*
Just gotta scrounge this one together for the stepdaughter anyway...be putting together a new one end of Feb. Ye olde AMD 64 with an AGP motherboard just isn't hacking it for anything resembling newer games. Oh well.
Thanks guys.
