is it just me, or does having the modular interface practically rubbing against the heatsinks seem like a bad idea or at the very least, is a poor design decision?

It works ok, there is a sheet of plastic there as well.

I know, it just looks overly crowded, especially when you compare it to the Andyson built Hiper Type R. There's a plastic sheet there as well, but you don't have exposed solder sticking out of the back of the interface.

Now it remains to be seen how the Samsons hold up. Really, that was a pretty lame ass way of ripping off SamXon. Also, Paul, you might want to drop in on the Tagan forum trolls to ask for that check. ;)

For the record: I HATE the screw-type modular interfaces. Especially when there is not much space to work between the PSU and the exge of the drive cage.
Great review tho!!

I like them except in those cases.....but they don't affect the performance so I didn't want to harp on that issue too much and couldn't really deduct from its performace for them. I do wish they would shorten them though and retain the screw down feature so they would be more friendly to smaller enclosures.

FWIW too: I don't know if SKYMTL noticed the similarity, but this unit is the same as the BFG 800W on the inside.
Of course, the BFG has the too short PCI-e cables and only two of them. :( :( :(

Yeah, I noticed even though those [H] pictures order damn slow for me here at work. Good to see that Paul's results were basically in-line with mine....though I did experience quite a bit more ripple at around 600-650W load (which is a guestimate based on my last test).

And that means....only us small websites get the PSUs. The rest of youse guys get the graphics cards from BFG. ;)

After a certain crappy 1000W PSU got reviewed, I was given direction who not to give PSU's to until I came out with something significantly better. :D
The Topower built 800W is old stock from before I started working there.
But we have a new marketing director so maybe we can get you hooked up w/ graphics cards in the future. ;)
