View Full Version : new coolermaster psu
Cooler Master just introduced the real power pro 850W. its apparantly certified for g80 sli, and they claim its the first 6-rail psu on the market, with 6 +12v rails of 18A each, and a total +12v combined of 720W. nothing yet about pricing.
so, what do the psu masters think of it?

Hmm, google doesn't have any info on it aside from a french site with small blurry pictures.
I doubt it's an ACbel. I don't think they offer 850w's, especially not with 6 rails.
The heatsinks look rather like a Seasonic, but there's no 850w job from seasonic, and definatly not with 6 rails.
Seventeam has an 850, but it has 4 rails, and not the right voltages. Highly unlikely. It does have a very seventeamish label.
Definatly not ATNG.
Topower is unlikely, at best
 this one's confusing.

The first PSU I saw with 6x12v, was this power train 1000 I did a thread on last month:) http://www.topower.com.tw/

Found a pic and traced the UL -> it appears to be an Enhance unit. This fascination manufacturers seem to have about adding more and more rails is starting to get ridiculous.

Enhance does have an 850W and 1kW and I thought they were being used by Xclio.
Apparently the 850W is also being used by Cooler Master because that sure looks like it (confirmed by ceewi1, thanks!)
Also, CAD is correct. I saw the Topower Power Train 1kW with six +12V rails before this.
And I don't see where they claim it's G80 certified. I see where they say it's SLI Ready (certified for 7950?) but they're not on the G80 lists I've seen.
sorry, i forgot to include the link wher ei read about the g80 sli compatibility, here it is: http://www.madshrimps.be/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28051
the product release sheet form coolermaster says: "which includes 4 connectors for the most powerfuel pci express VGA card". pretty obvious imo, i dont know any other vga card that requires 2 connectors per card, except for the 7900gx2, but that is hardly the most powerfull vga card.

I still don't see where Cooler Master is making the claim that this is G80 certified.
Four PCI-e connectors does not automatically mean SLI certification.
And for the record, 7950 OEM cards had two PCI-e connectors on each card. ;)
But since this PSU does have 60A on the 12V rail and four PCI-e connectors, it will likely get G80 GTX SLI certified.

At this point in time Enhance is sticking to the Intel spec of no more than 20A per rail. This is according to the VP in charge of US sales.
I am not suprised it's non-modular but it does suprise me they went with a 135mm fan on such a high output unit. Those large fans take up alot of interior space. 85% efficiency...WOW! :p

Six rails? Great, just confuse the consumer (me) more.:wall: I swear I wanna beat some of these manufacturers upside the head! First they push multi rail units, then start pushing single rail units again, then start pushing even more rail multi rail units!
