Core 2 Duo - Retention Lever Resistance?

Is it normal to feel some resistance with the retention lever when installing an lga 775 cpu? It just doesn't feel safe ;/ I'm 100% positive the pins are lined up correctly. Has anyone here experience some uncomfortable resistance?

Some resistance is normal. It takes more force than the older Socket 478; more force is required for the the pins in the socket to make good contact with the processor lands, compared to the clamping of the pins on the older S478 processors.
