Actually, that is why. I think it was that incident that "sparked" all of the recalls.

IIRC, there were/are metalic particals in the gel electrolyte of the Sony batteries. Get enough of them in contact with eachother and the battery will have an internal short.
I read this in a linked story at MajorGeeks several weeks ago.

Wow , just a little dangerous ? I should definately check into that , my wife is just 7 weeks along with our first kid . Hopefully Karen's laptop is a diffrent model # .

Go to Dell's support page and check. Then contact Dell.
Sony is biting the bullet on this one big time.
Read my first post in this thread about metalic particals. :cool:
Mac has some units that need refitting with new batteries also.

Thanks alot for that info folks .. As it turns out the obg/gyn nurses were all over that like a pitbull lol .. Ummm.... somthing tells me to replace the whole laptop anyway ....

Its darwinian selection, using a dell is obviously an undesireble trait in the human species... males that use Dells get their tools damaged, and in 2 million years, no more Dells.:D
