There was something familiar loking about that Allied PS. I took a look at a Rosewill RD500-2DB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182044) I had sitting in a box on my shelf. There are some external differences between the two suppies, but the mfg code (E223918) indicates the same mfg. When I opened it up it was identical. All the same parts:eek: ; the same PS:eek:  .
The reason mine is sitting on a shelf is that after I found this site, I had a feeling it was a crummy supply and replaced it with a Corsair HX520.

Some Rosewills are better than others ;)

This was a Rosewill PSU that came with a case, not one that was sold separately, correct?

Here is something I don't understand:
Why isn't a video camera running whenever you test a Deer / Allied PSU?

Once a Deer, always a Deer.

Yes, such tests should be video taped and posted so people who don't listen to advice about supplies can see what happens.

For best results film in low light environment. (so you could see the fireworks)

That's assuming I have a device on which to capture said fireworks ;)

And then timing is fun too. I had one I knew was going to blow up...had camera rolling and everything....stupid thing lasted longer than expected and I ran out of battery :(

Certain primary side explosions are easier to catch if you have the camera ready. I've found on a few PSU's that the AC input amperage will climb gradually just prior to explosion, so once you see numbers start to roll, time to turn on the camera.
