I recv'd an 850w Galaxy PSU roughly a week ago or so after the first one got replaced due to it being defective out of the box(fried my mobo!).
When my memory is being stressed I can hear a pronounced whining noise coming from the powersupply?
I have activity LEDs on my ram, when it is in the "red" is when the whining occurs. I put my ear up to the power supply and I can definitely tell its coming from there.
If you read this jonnyguru, did you hear this noise or anything similar when when testing that area of the 1kw Galaxy?

No. But whining noises like those can vary from unit to unit because it's typically loose windings on a transformer.

hmmm, great. would that have an adverse affect on anything? worth calling up enermax about?

Probably only an adverse effect on your mental health if the noise was loud enough.

ok, now its started to basically make that noise all the time.
does this warrant a call to enermax support? it is very annoying...

If I was an Enermax I'd whine too ;) J/K Yes, definitely call them and RMA the thing. A bit of whine while not expected isn't terrible but to have it do it all the time is unacceptable.

I agree with Max. I'd send it back.

haste,
I was just down this road, and was advised (like the others are saying) to send it back through RMA.
